The founders of the largest township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania didn't have nice Bensalem apartments when they established it in 1692. Now there are a multitude of great places to live in this thriving city of around 60,000 people. Located northeast of Philadelphia, it is home to Philadelphia Park Racetrack and Casino. Being so close to Philadelphia offers plenty of shopping for Bensalem apartment residents, yet the city hosts one of the first shopping malls built in the country in 1968, Neshaminy Mall. The Parks and Recreation Department provides many sports and activities for all ages of residents of Bensalem
apartments.
Philadelphia Park, which has gone through several name changes over the years, has a one mile thoroughbred racing track as well as an adjacent casino and gaming complex. The track is called home by 2004 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes horse Smarty Jones, as well as other notable horses. In late 2009, the 250,000 square foot Parx Casino was opened. It features gaming of all sorts, including slot machines, cards and e-gaming, but be aware, you must be 21 or older to play. Food and entertainment abound at the casino, with live performances, lounge acts and dance music.
The anchor stores at Neshaminy Mall are Boscov's, Macy's, Sears and an AMC Theater, with 24 screens and the largest in Pennsylvania. Other large stores in the mall are Modell's Sporting Goods, Barnes and Noble and H&M clothing store. There are over 120 stores and shops, including a food court when you don't want to eat at your Bensalem apartment.
Baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, soccer and cheerleading are all offered on a consistent basis through several sports organizations in the city. Bensalem claims to have one of the largest cores of sports organizations in the country. You can find out more about the programs on the city's website at www.bensalemtwp.org. All sorts of additional classes are offered through the Parks and Recreation Department. Yoga, self-defense, art and music are just a few of the choices. And because there are 30 parks in this city, you can always find a place to go walk or jog, skate, have a picnic or pick up a game of basketball or football with your Bensalem apartments buddies.
On top of all the current activities, Bensalem is filled with history.
