The nearby Adventure Aquarium features about eight thousand marine and land animals living in semi-aquatic, freshwater, and marine habitats. The center is an educational entertainment venue and has around two million visitors per year. You can also visit poet Walt Whitman's house on the riverfront, and it is so humble that it will most likely make you appreciate your Camden apartment.

Other venues at the Camden waterfront are Wiggins' Park, the Camden Children's Garden, Campbell's Field, where the minor league baseball team, the Riversharks play and the USS New Jersey, a US Navy ship retired here. You can tour this boat that saw action in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. When you're finished adventuring in Camden, you may take the RiverLink Ferry across state lines to Old City Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

For those of you who wish to further your education in your free time, Camden offers several options in higher education. Camden Community College offers associate degrees and there are satellite campuses of both Rutgers and Rowan University. The University of Medicine and Dentistry is also located in the city.
